Leading Mendon Forward.
Three years ago, you trusted me to bring transparency, accountability, and fiscal discipline to our town. As Chair of the Mendon Select Board, I haven't just made promises — I've delivered measurable results. In a time of growth and change, Mendon needs proven, experienced leadership to protect our community's future. Let's finish the job.

Mendon Roots.
Professional Expertise.
Community Service.
Jason Kuter isn't just a politician — he's a dedicated community member who has called Mendon home for over a decade. Whether he's raising his family here, dedicating 12 years to coaching, youth boards, and scouting, serving as local Scoutmaster (2016-2023), or currently co-chairing the “100 Years of Scouting in Mendon” 2026 celebration, Jason is deeply rooted in the success of our town.
He currently serves as Chair of the Mendon Select Board — an elected office he holds today, not a future promise. The town's official Select Board page lists agendas, approved minutes, and board contact information.
By day, Jason is a Principal Architect at MathWorks, managing complex cloud migrations and enterprise infrastructure. When town budgets scale into the millions, you need a leader with a disciplined, data-driven analytical mind who understands how to maximize every taxpayer dollar without compromising quality.
As a former public school science and computer science teacher, Jason inherently understands the challenges facing public education. His firsthand classroom experience is why he fiercely advocates for the Mendon-Upton Regional School District, ensuring our students get the support they need to succeed.
Elected to Select Board
May 2023 — Mendon voters elected Jason on a platform of transparent, accountable government and community investment.
Elected Chair by Peers
2025 — Jason's fellow board members named him Chair during the annual board reorganization — a recognition earned, not appointed.
Running for Reelection
2026 — Continuing the work: fiscal discipline, staff investment, smart growth, and community transparency.
What I've Delivered
Every item below is a real action taken during my term — not a promise, a result.
Balanced Budgets, Preserved Services
Delivered balanced town budgets across my full term while maintaining essential services for all 6,515 Mendon residents — no service cuts, no fiscal surprises.
Town Employee Compensation Studies
Commissioned comprehensive compensation studies to ensure Mendon's town employees receive fair, competitive pay — a critical investment in retaining talented public servants.
AG-Approved Bylaw Modernization
All bylaw changes from the May 2, 2025 Annual Town Meeting received Massachusetts Attorney General approval on July 30, 2025 — demonstrating rigorous, legally-sound governance.
Library Paving & Digital Inclusion
Completed the Mendon Public Library paving project (Spring 2025) and launched a digital inclusion survey in partnership with CMRPC to identify connectivity gaps across our community.
Taft Orchard Development Study
Led the feasibility study for the Taft Orchard property — a potential 35-unit age-restricted mixed-use development projected to generate approximately $187,000 in new annual tax revenue for Mendon.
Elected Chair by Fellow Board Members
During the 2025 Select Board reorganization, my colleagues elected me Chair — a recognition of consistent, principled leadership earned over three years of service.
My Platform
Transparent & Accountable
Open government isn't just a talking point — it's my track record. While others talk about transparency, I've actively published board decisions, maintained perfect attendance at public meetings, and spearheaded the General Bylaws Review to ensure residents always know how their town operates. Mendon deserves leadership with nothing to hide.
Smart Housing Strategy
Mendon is thriving, but uncontrolled development threatens our infrastructure. I'm not just watching growth happen; I'm actively managing it. By guiding the Taft Orchard study and protecting the Housing Authority's vulnerable populations, I am ensuring our growth is strategic, sustainable, and serves Mendon first.
Demanding Educational Excellence
A 95% graduation rate doesn't happen by accident. As a former teacher, I know what it takes to succeed in the classroom. I vigorously support our public schools, ensuring that they have the sustainable funding they need while holding the administration accountable for results.
Defending Mendon's Character
With our population growing at 1.15% annually, Mendon is rapidly changing. Smart growth means holding the line against overdevelopment. I will continue to rigorously defend the green spaces, historic charm, and rural character that make our 1667 “Mother Town” worth fighting for.
Prioritizing Public Safety
Without public safety, nothing else matters. While others play politics, I've supported strategic hires in our police force, boosted employee morale across town departments, and aggressively advocated for programs that allow Mendon's seniors to safely age in the community they built. I will never compromise on your family's security.
